1. The UK Association of Train Operating Companies (ATOC) wants to charge for the data that actually makes it easier for customers to use their service. A train times app is as an advert for train services [and] ATOC wants to charge developers to advertise their product. ATOC won’t confirm the cost of a licence but industry sources estimate that it’s in the tens of thousands of pounds.
    National Rail Enquiries application angers customers - I have no problem with paying for the application, but I’m annoyed about the fact that they’re locking the data on train times into hideously-expensive licences.
