I’m particularly fussy when it comes to apps on my iPhone - I don’t need all that many on the device, and have just one screen of apps currently. Here’s a quick run-through of them.
- Darkslide - Fraser Speirs’ very excellent Flickr client, along with Facebook and Frenzic, are the few apps to stay on my phone since the App Store’s launch last summer. It’s got a tonne of features, but doesn’t feel cluttered (unlike some app’s I’ve tried recently).
- Facebook - I seem to spend more time on the iPhone app than the actual Facebook website, and despite the lack of Event features (something Facebook are working on) it serves me just fine.
- Ego - Ego is incredibly simple, yet its beautiful design and easy at-a-glance stats for Mint, Twitter, Analytics and more make it super-handy.
- Frenzic - The Iconfactory’s first iPhone game, I love the simplicity and style.
- NetNewsWire - This one needs little introduction. I’m no fan of Google Reader, and this is a great free alternative that syncs with the ubiquitous Mac app. My only wish is that instead of using the Newsgator Clippings option it would save to Instapaper.
- Birdfeed - By far my favourite Twitter client, Birdfeed has some great touches to it.
- Tumblr - I freakin’ love Tumblr. It’s a great service that I’ve been using almost since its launch. You’d have to pry the service from my dead, cold, hands.
- Remote - This one needs no introduction. I don’t use it a great deal, but tend to find myself keeping it on the screen just in case.
- LittleSnapper - Our own foray into the App Store at the day-job, this uploads to the Ember inspiration sharing service.
- Flight Control - Another App Store classic, this is joins Frenzic as the only two games on the device.
- Ramp Champ - I’ve been testing this app for the Iconfactory for a little while. I’m not able to comment on it, though. The first rule of Fight Club is to not talk about Fight Club…
