1. Elation at hitting milestones en route to a finished product

Over the weekend I shipped a small first-look of something I’ve been working at (on and off) for the better part of a year. Whilst it’s easy to say this is a post to pique interest in a mysterious yet-to-be-announced app for a certain device - it’s not - the elation of getting something into users hands, no matter how early-stage it may be, saw me grinning like a Cheshire cat for much of the weekend.

In long-drawn-out labour-of-love projects such as this, in which you invest a large number of hours, these small wins are perhaps the best thing to keep you enthused about a project. When I find myself hitting walls (and trust me, I continually do in this ever-expanding exploration of Cocoa) nothing is a better motivator than the promise of smug satisfaction after pushing through the roadblocks.
