1. ➶ "The Android star is rising"

I’m always fascinated in how Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android platforms get compared - and always amazed at how poorly considered many pieces are.

Android is on the up, supposedly helped by the likes of the Droid and the oh-so-popular Evo. But in reality, the success of Android isn’t really down to those handsets: it’s down to the cheap-as-chips, non-upgradeable handsets that carriers are plying to those unwilling to lay down the cash for an iPhone.

It’s like comparing the sales of Ferrari to Ford, whilst complaining that Ferrari doesn’t sell anywhere near as many cars.

    Duh.

There’s always the question of ‘how will Apple respond’. But I’m pretty certain that AT&T’s inability to handle the volume of iPhone 4 pre-orders says more than any analyst can spout about Apple’s success in the markets it chooses to enter and dominate.
