Short answer: No. Long answer: Still No. Follower counts are a useful metric (though, I hasten to add, not the only one) when deciding on whether to follow other people, particularly when you get new follower emails and go to check the person’s profile. I yearn for the day that Twitter give us more information about people: mainly, the number of common friends that I have with a certain person on Twitter.
