For the unaware, TouchWiz is Samsung’s own glitzy skin over Android - which apparently uses up precious ROM space on the device, making the Galaxy S and Tab unable to update to the latest version of Android: Ice Cream Sandwich.

This Is My Next has a great run-down of today’s Android announcements. I’ve been dismissive of Google’s whole “Fauxpen” stance with Android, but competition keeps Apple on its toes.
That’s a very good thing for Apple fans.
I mean it’s not as if Android’s marketed as being open, and that very open-ness was a reason for the FCC to state that the wireless spectrum didn’t need no stinkin’ net neutrality or anything.
Translation:
We need your apps.
Basically, RIM are offering two ‘app players’ (Shockwave / Flash anyone?) that provide runtimes for BlackBerry Java and Android 2.3 apps.
Nothing says ‘Open’ like ‘We’re not gonna share this with you yet’.
That’s the sweet, sweet smell of open.
