How screwed would we be if the WebKit team weren’t so god damn competent?
If WebKit begins to present a serious threat of undermining the app store ecosystem, it appears to be in Apple’s financial interest to hobble WebKit development. What would you do if you were Apple?
Yes, it’s another hyperbolic TechCrunch post, but it’s hard to underplay the speed of the 3GS’ Javascript (people, take note: you’re allowed to use apostrophes after S in lieu of -es). The iPhone 3GS runs roughly 3x faster than the iPhone 3G running 3.0 (and 6 times faster than a 3G running OS 2.2.1). The iPhone 3GS remains 12 times slower than a MacBook, but it’s a darn-sight faster than the Pre or G1.
Another ‘I meant to post it last week’ item, Natalie Downe posted a seriously slick way to make pocketbooks through the awesomeness and magic of WebKit. There’s also some handy Terminal command ones too.
