Good lord. I honestly don’t think there’s a figure large enough. From the font rendering, to the design. I just cannot stand Windows. If anything, the only case in which I’d consider switching from Windows to a Mac would be if Apple dropped the ball and Windows somehow overtook it.

This post from the Windows Mobile team is an interesting read. Whilst it touts the ease of porting the sample application with plenty of Visual Studio adoration and iPhone pot-shots, it doesn’t even scratch the surface on building it for more than one device with different form factors - a pain I’d wish on very few people.
One joy of the iPhone SDK is that you’re given a consistent platform and form-factor to work with.
I have no idea what makes one operating system work better than another, except that I know you need to have someone in charge who keeps telling the engineers that it’s not good enough—go back and do better. And that, my friends, is why Apple, and all of us, need Steve Jobs.
